Our frailty units at Aintree University Hospital and the Royal Liverpool University Hospital, specialise in the rapid assessment and treatment of patients aged 65 years and over, who are at highest risk of outcomes such as falls, disability, admission, or the need for long-term care.
The ambulatory area aims to review and treat patients with a view to getting them home the same day.
The units also have short stay areas for patients requiring an admission, usually less than 72 hours.
Our team made up of nurses, advanced nurse practitioners, doctors, therapists, pharmacists, and discharge co-ordiantors, specialise in managing conditions such delirium, falls and reduced mobility.
The units work very closely with community services to ensure patients receive further support after leaving our hospitals.
If a patient attending the Royal Liverpool University Hospital, may be transferred to Ward 7A or 7D on our Royal site, or Ward 9 or Ward 11 at Broadgreen.
