Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) enables emergency patients to access same day care who would otherwise be admitted to hospital.

Patients can be quickly assessed, diagnosed, and treated without being admitted to hospital.

The service is located on Ward 1D.

More information

Patients can be referred into this service in one of four ways.

The first, after attending the Royal Liverpool University Hospital Emergency Department.

Second GP referrals. Ideally, patients will need to be able to sit in the waiting room in between their assessments and treatments. Ambulances may bring and drop-off patients.

Medical return is the third. Patients may need further tests and observations after their initial visit without the need for admission.

Lastly, speciality referrals. Speciality consultants may arrange to see patients in this area in order to prevent admission to hospital.

GP phoneline

GPs are able to talk to an acute medical consultant, Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm, supporting them to better care for patients in a community setting and sometimes avoiding unnecessary hospital attendance.

We are located in Ward 1D, on the First floor. Open 8am-8pm, Monday to Saturday.
