How the Salary Deductions and Benefit-in-Kind tax works

Your salary sacrifice will commence the month following your order being approved by the Trust and will be taken from your salary in equal amounts (either 12 or 24 months), for example if you place an order in May your salary sacrifice will begin in June.

The tax payable on your Benefit-in-Kind (also known as Tax Liability or BIK tax), will be collected in the tax year following the year in which the product is provided to you and spread over that tax year. Please be aware the tax year runs from April until the following March, this will be done by a change in your tax code.

For example if your order is approved in May 2023 there will be a delay in your Benefit-in-Kind being collected and this will happen in tax year 2024-25, however if your order was approved in March 2023, your tax will be collected in tax year 2023-24.

National Living Wage rate change effective from 30th October 2024

From Wednesday 30th October, the Trust will use a 'projected' National Living Wage rate (NLW) of £12.21 per hour for 12 month applications and £12.96 per hour for 24 month applications for the Home Electronics scheme.

These rates will be effective from 30th October 2024 as ALL applications will fall in line with further projected rates going forward.

We are continuing with the Office for Budget Responsibility forecast (OBR) projections for predicting future rate increases. We understand that this is just a forecast but we have a legal obligation to ensure that no staff fall below the proposed new minimum on its implementation.
