We have a Statutory Requirement in which we have to comply with Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 and the Department of Health HTM Documents (Hospital Fire Code). Part of this requirement means the trust must have enough trained fire wardens to cover all areas/wards/department while occupied.
What to expect on the day
The session lasts for approximately 2 hours. Theoretical (classroom) and Practical (use of fire extinguisher simulator)
We will cover the day to day fire safety arrangements within your area, fire procedures, how to take appropriate action on discovery of a fire, fire defence systems, human behaviour, role of the fire ward and how to safely use a range of fire extinguishers.
Learning Outcomes

- How to maintain a fire safe ward/department
- How to identify the different alarm sounds
- How to raise the alarm
- Carry out daily and monthly fire safety checklist
Please attend in suitable/comfortable clothing for classroom and practical activities
Please note the students should be capable of lifting a fire extinguisher weighing approximatley 35lbs/15.8kgs
