How to get spiritual or cultural support at Royal Liverpool University Hospital
The pastoral, spiritual, religious and cultural needs of our patients, relatives and staff are provided for by our chaplaincy team. Chaplains are available for those of any faiths and belief systems and also for those who do not belong to a particular faith community or belief system. They are available 24 hours a day, seven days per week.
Coming to hospital can be a worrying and stressful time; the chaplains are available to everyone who may benefit from support whilst an in-patient or attending outpatient clinics.
Contacting the team
The Chaplaincy team can be contacted directly on 0151 706 2826 or 0151 706 2828. A message can be left on the answerphone stating the name and location of the patient, nature of the request, and the caller’s name and contact number.
If a chaplain is needed urgently, colleagues on the ward can help by contacting the Duty Chaplain or a Roman Catholic Priest.
Chapels, prayer rooms and services
The chapel and multi-faith prayer room are in the Spiritual Care Department on the lower ground floor, and are available 24 hours a day. They may be locked overnight but can be opened by requesting security.
All sacramental care is available, please ask colleagues to contact the appropriate Chaplaincy service.
