The Greener NHS programme is the national sustainability programme working with staff, hospitals and our partners across the country. It builds on the great work being done by trusts, sharing ideas on how to reduce the impact on public health and the environment, save money and reach net carbon zero.

In October 2020, the NHS became the world’s first health service to commit to reaching carbon net zero and in July 2022 became the first health system to embed net zero into legislation.

To stay up to date with the national progress the NHS is making towards our net zero ambition, you can sign up to the monthly Greener NHS bulletin
