Exhibitions
Thank you to LJMU History of Art and Museum (HAM) studies for their hard work curating the old Royals artwork some of which has gone back up on the third floor corridor leading to the Multistorey. The rest will be rehoused in September. The next set of HAM students will be focusing on bringing art to the walls of Broadgreen from October.

'Holding Time'
Holding Time - Overcoming the cultural barriers to breastfeeding, coinciding with the launch of the Trust new breastfeeding policy, and the provision of breastfeeding rooms on each site, we are delighted to host the Holding Time exhibition on the 10th floor of the Royal. This exhibition will rotate to each sit during the next few years. A formal opening is scheduled for November. All work will be labelled over the next few months.
Sculptures
Following extensive works on the Aintree site two works by 'Michael Condron have been rehomed 'Biophilia' is now pride of place in the new Aintree remembrance garden in front of the main entrance. 'Talking' will shortly be located in front of the new Stroke Unit.
NHS Stories
NHS Stories is an ambitious and unprecedented national creative commission across 19 hospital trusts, celebrating 75 years of the NHS. It places NHS staff at its centre, using the arts to provide a visible national platform for their experiences and to profile and celebrate the central role the arts play in staff health, wellbeing and recovery. From September we will be collecting stories from staff for the national archive and to celebrate our staff.
History of the Royal
Playwright and actress Emma Vaudrey is also collecting stories from staff members of the Royal to write a short play that will be premiered in November as part of the continuing NHS 75th celebrations.
Music and Performance
A big thank you to our very own Michael Howarth (finance) for performing at Aintree for the NHS 75th and University of Liverpool student Leah Jones for her piano and keyboard recitals at the Royal throughout July. From October we will be bringing back a weekly performative offer to all our DMOP's wards managed by Liverpool University & facilitated by Edgehill, Hope and LJMU universities as well as regular Foyer events at all sites.
All student nurses on the GOON programme can apply for a 1-day or 4 week 'Leadership & Development' HARTS placement, this is extended to all trainee nurses and medics.
Getting involved
Since the merger and the pandemic and the move to the new Royal the arts have not been very visible across the Trust. In September we will be issuing a survey to all staff to see what you would like. We are also looking for a small arts focus/steering group on each site. Previously we have had Choirs, Dance classes, Art Clubs, many staff arts exhibitions and much more. If you have a talent you would like to share this we would love to see to hear from you.
