The Freedom to Speak Up (FTSU) Service at Aintree, Broadgreen and the Royal is looking for colleagues from all sites, specialties, roles, backgrounds and communities to join our established FTSU Champions Network.

Being able to speak up, listen up, and follow up is integral in helping us to improve and deliver great care.

We need more FTSU champions to be visible and available through our diverse workforce in order to support everyone to speak up with ideas, concerns or errors, and to feel that when they do, their voice counts. The role is voluntary and is undertaken as part of your existing job role.

Key responsibilities

  • Be visible and available to colleagues, students, or volunteers as a source of support to help them find the right speaking up route for them
  • Support the FTSU Guardian to raise awareness and promote speaking up within the organisation
  • Take immediate and appropriate action with Guardian support when people raise matters that indicate safety and care quality may be compromised
  • Live and role-model our organisational values, be compliant with your FTSU role specific training, and be familiar with the FTSU policy
  • Communicate with empathy, compassion and objectivity about potentially emotive subjects.

How to apply

In the first instance, please discuss your interest with your manager and share this letter with them.

You can find more information, including contact details for our existing champions, on the FTSU pages here.

Complete this application form and return it to the FTSU Guardian, Lorraine Heaton, via email (lorraine.heaton@liverpoolft.nhs.uk) or arrange a time to drop a physical copy in via phone 07794 071 021.
