I ensure my team have opportunities to reach their full potential, develop and grow
Why is it important?
It helps your team members to be the best that they can be in their jobs, and supports their future career ambitions.
It helps to keep everyone up to date with the skills they need to do their jobs.
As People Managers, your guidance and support for colleagues is important. Your own personal growth is also important, so please make sure you speak to your manager about your development, and engage in the opportunities available.
How do I do it?
- Appraisals – holding regular appraisals to identify strengths, areas for improvement, development goals and a learning plan to achieve the goals.
- Regular check-ins – talk to your team members regularly. Use these chats to check on any development needs, progress updates and ensure colleague wellbeing.
- Learning Opportunities - provide opportunities for both on the job learning and also attendance at formal training programmes.
- Coaching - either using a coaching approach with individuals or your team, or seeking coaching yourself to support your development
