One of the biggest opportunities for us to hear your thoughts is in the annual NHS Staff Survey, and the results from the 2024 survey have now been published. Thank you everyone who took part.

This year’s results show that on the whole, as a Group, we have remained relatively consistent across the seven People Promise themes. You can read the results in full here:

Results at a glance

Aintree, Broadgreen and Royal

There have been no reductions in our scores, which had shown a marked improvement in 2023, with a continued improvement across four themes: ‘we are compassionate and inclusive’, ‘we are always learning’, ‘we work flexibly’ and ‘morale’.

We are also continuing to close the gap between our scores and the national average of our peers, with ‘we are safe and healthy’ now in line with sector average. These results are a positive indicator given the level of change our organisation has experienced in recent years.

There has been minimal change across the themes, with some slight decreases which we will review further upon closer analysis of the data. It is positive to see improvements in relation to ‘we work flexibly’, which is a result of continued work around our flexible working offering, alongside an increase in colleagues reporting they have not experienced discrimination based on ethnic background.

Colleagues should always feel safe and welcomed in their workplace, and I know there has been a lot of hard work in implementing the Anti-Racism Hub, and it is promising to see that this, alongside additional staff support and interventions, is making a difference to your experience.

What do the results mean to me?

This year there will be an increased site focus with our Organisational Development and Employee Experience teams supporting divisions on identifying their priority areas, so that we can get into the detail of what needs to change at each hospital or site and improve your experiences at a local level.

Colleagues are encouraged to attend their local Executive Managing Director Briefing Sessions to hear more about some of the key results on their site, and over the coming weeks we will share more information about the results with you.
