I am the lead for health, safety and fire across LUHFT. A Chartered Fellow of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) who joined Liverpool University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust in 2021 I bring a myriad of experience from the railway industry, London Underground Limited, and one of the world-class, research-intensive Russell Group’s universities, University of Liverpool. 

I am the Vice Chair of the Northwest Healthcare Services Section of IOSH and a member of the NHS Staff Council's Health, Safety and Wellbeing Group influencing standards of workplace health, safety and wellbeing in healthcare.

I am the senior Health and Safety Manager for the Trust and I support four other health and safety colleagues within the team who manage three other trust sites. I review process, procedures and help with the wider audit programme to help give the trust assurance to legislative compliance.

I have over ten years’ experience in the profession. My experience includes public sector, logistics and distribution, social housing and construction. I am also a committee member of the Merseyside IOSH branch and a chartered member of Institution of Occupational Safety (IOSH). 

I am the Health & Safety Manager for the Royal Hospital, Dental Hospital.

I have over 25 years of experience within the health & safety industry covering a wide range of disciplines including:

Asbestos management removal and remediation works, health & safety audits and assessments, health & safety management systems, occupational hygiene, statutory compliance, accident/incident investigation, business continuity/emergency planning, safety training and contractor management.

Prior to joining the Trust, I spent a number of years in the private sector as a Consultant. I then joined the University of Liverpool in 2014 as part of their Risk & Assurance Team before starting my position here at LUHFT in March 2022.

As at the Trust Health and Safety Training Manager, I am responsible for identifying and delivering health and safety related training courses across the organisation.

Working with the subject matter experts in the Health and Safety Team, I am responsible for ensuring the Trust continues to meet and comply with UK regulatory requirements involving Health and Safety training. I do this in conjunction with the Learning and Development team.

I joined the Trust in 1992.

My first role in the Trust utilised my photographic skills when I joined St Pauls Mobile Diabetic Eye Screening Unit. I went on to manage the Ophthalmic Imaging department for the next 15 years.

I joined the Learning and Development team in 2008 then progressed into my current role as part of the Health and Safety Team.

I am a Health & Safety Advisor for the Trust. My main location is within Liverpool clinical laboratories and support throughout the wider Trust. 

My role includes to provide professional support and advise managers in the development, adoption, implementation and maintenance of appropriate occupation health and safety arrangements and environmental management, in accordance with legislative requirements, and with the policies and strategies that are determined by the Trust. The post holder will assist the Trust health and safety manager in implementing HSG65 within a large multi occupancy organisation. 

Previous to my role in the Trust, I worked in the health and safety sector for two years on the construction of the new Royal Liverpool Hospital prior to opening.

As the Fire Safety Support Officer within the Health and Safety Team, my role is to provide support to the Fire Safety Advisors and the wider team. My duties include monitoring and coordination of current and outstanding fire risk assessments and fire drills, provision of data for senior management reports, creation and updating of monthly checklists, analysing and interrogating data collected from monthly audits and provide administrative support for Health and Safety Team.

Prior to joining the team, for 36 years I worked for a large banking institution where I advanced my skills in data collection, processing, reconciliation of queries and accounts amongst many other duties.

I am a Fire Safety Advisor for the trust.

My role includes to promote the development of a positive fire safety culture within the Trust by supporting the development and implementation of fire safety systems and policies, providing relevant training, performing audits and inspections, undertaking risk assessments, reporting on fire and
safety matters to relevant personnel and committees and supporting the continual improvement of fire safety arrangements and systems.

I have seventeen years’ experience in the fire safety industry. Prior to my role in the Trust, I was as a fire safety engineer.

I am a Fire Safety Advisor for the trust and my role includes promoting the development of a positive fire safety culture by supporting the development and implementation of fire safety systems and policies, providing relevant training, performing audits and inspections, undertaking risk assessments, reporting on fire and safety matters to relevant personnel and committees and supporting the continual improvement of fire safety arrangements and systems within the trust.

I am a Fire Safety Advocate for the Trust.

My role is to promote good fire safety culture throughout LUFHT by training fire wardens, auditing and reviewing fire risk assessments for all buildings around the Trust site wide. Part of this role is to be proactive and spread awareness of fire safety and can be seen across clinical and non-clinical areas.

Prior to starting my role in the Trust I was an adult tutor. In this time, I had an active interest and input to health and fire safety. 

I am one of two Manual Handling Advisors for the Trust. My role is to offer advice and guidance relating to all clinical and non-clinical manual handling tasks, design and facilitate mandatory manual handling training and provide advice regarding the purchase of manual handling equipment and development of safe working practices and policies.
