June is Pride month and to acknowledge the incredible contribution of our LGBTQ+ colleagues and celebrate diversity and inclusion across our hospitals we have a range of events taking place throughout the month.
We have given Liverpool News and our social media channels a new look for the month of June in honour of Pride month, which is recognised internationally as an opportunity for LGBT+ communities to celebrate the diversity of their members and campaign for change in areas where LGBT+ people continue to experience discrimination. We’ll also be flying the rainbow flag at our hospital sites for the month of June.
Pride Coffee Morning
Date: Friday 21 June
Time: 12noon to 2pm
Location: Trust Seminar Room 1, Royal site
The coffee morning will provide an opportunity for staff to come together and network. We encourage you to join us, enjoy some refreshments, and connect with colleagues in a welcoming and supportive environment! We are also delighted to announce that we will be joined by Singing for Wellbeing who encourage us all to join in and celebrate through song!
Transgender Roundtable
The Trust will be holding a roundtable event focused on transgender and non-binary patient care. The session will explore themes such as patient stories, appropriate terminology, how staff can approach discussing a patient’s gender with them in a supportive and comfortable way and much more. We believe this event will be a significant step towards enhancing collaboration and understanding with trans and non-binary patients.
LGBTQ+ Staff Network
We are excited to announce the re-establishment of our LGBTQ+ Staff Network! The network aims to create a supportive and inclusive community within our organisation, where all LGBTQ+ staff members can connect, share experiences, and advocate for a more inclusive workplace. If you are interested in being involved in setting up the network or would like to become a member, please complete the form here.
If you have any questions about the Network or would like to be invited to the next MS Teams meeting, please email sophie.
The Network is keen to hear about people’s experiences and any suggestions people may have to improve the lives of LGBTQ+ staff and patients within the Trust.
