As Liverpool University Hospitals gears up to celebrate and recognise staff at the annual staff awards, we are shining the spotlight on a research nurse who has made her way on to the nomination list.
Danielle McLaughlan, the lead for Infectious Disease research and the LEDRUS team, has been nominated for the ‘Leading Light Award’, recognising her leadership skills.
Danni is currently managing varying portfolio of research from wrist fractures to the best ways to treat sepsis, all whilst undergoing her master’s in research clinical sciences.
Danni said: “Navigating such a large portfolio of research whilst completing my masters and having a family life is a challenge, but the verity is also the reason I love my job.
“The team I work with are amazing, and if it wasn’t for them, we wouldn’t be able to carry out the life changing research we do here at LUHFT.”
The Leading Light Award focuses on compassionate leadership, insight and application to support improved team culture, something Danni’s Infectious Disease research team felt she does every day.
Danni continued: “I didn’t even realise I’d been nominated until I was sent a screen shot of the email announcement.
“I was blown away; I feel like I am just doing my job and looking after my team is one of my main priorities.
“To be recognised by my team is something I’m hugely proud of".
The Heart of LUHFT Awards will take place on Friday 8 November 2024.
