The NHS has set out the next steps in their work looking at the future of women’s hospital services in Liverpool.

The programme is focusing on developing a clinically sustainable model of care for hospital-based maternity and gynaecology services delivered in the city.

A plan for the first phase of this programme and some initial timescales have now been agreed. Central to this is the engagement and involvement of patients, carers, families, key stakeholders and the public in shaping the future design of services.
Importantly, whilst programme leaders have committed to a process to help shape future service design, no decisions about how these services might look in the future have been made.

You can read more details about the plan for how this work will progress in an update from James Sumner, Chair of the programme board on the Women’s Services page of the NHS Cheshire and Merseyside website, where you’ll also find background to this work.
