Aintree University Hospital’s Endoscopy team has been recognised by the Royal College of Physicians (RCP) for demonstrating best practice in the delivery of patient care.
The team has maintained its Joint Advisory Group (JAG) accreditation, which is endorsed by the RCP and is proof of an Endoscopy service that is providing high quality care to its patients.
The team at Aintree were assessed on their clinical quality, patient experience, workforce and training, all of which got a national stamp of approval.
The service is home to one of the largest bowel cancer screening programmes in the UK and provides national expertise for a range of complex procedures.
The team is currently trailing an innovative digital tool to help their nursing teams better manage theatre allocations, cutting waiting times and providing timely, effective communication with patients.
Shaheen Mumtaz-Wong, Endoscopy Matron, said: “The JAG accreditation means that patients and their loved ones can have increased confidence in the care we deliver.
“This national recognition symbolises the determination and passion of the team to create an environment that upholds and delivers patient-centred care.
“I have every confidence that our service will continue to improve and implement new ways of working, that guarantee the best outcomes for our patients.”
